This and that...

Arthur and Jessica

1. Every once in a while I have to "flush" my brain. I do this by making a list, or several lists of the things clogging up my bain and making it hard to think. Anyone else do this? It is a huge help to me--I don't forget as much important stuff and I can check off things as I do them. By the way, that's how this post got started...I had a bunch I wanted to say. Now, back to business!

2. Did you know that too much input (overstimulation) releases some chemical in your body and makes you prone to depression? People who do homework, listen to iPods, instant message, etc, etc all at the same time are more prone to become depressed. I wonder if having five different tabs going at the same time on my browser has the same effect...

3. We are having a bridal shower for my cousin Jessica tonight. She is marrying one of Bob's best friends, Arthur (whose father just passed away). Arthur and Jessica were both in our wedding nine years ago. Maybe I'll post more about the shower later.

4. The numbers in our teen class were down this week. I wasn't able to do all of my regular calling on each of the kids plus the nice weather makes several activities tempting, I'm sure. We talked about Prayer and learned how to use a concordance. We had a sword drill using the concordance. They seemed to enjoy it and they all learned a lot. I told them I want them to be able to find what the Bible says about certain things on their own...teach a man to fish...

5. For all you Youth Leaders out there, it seems that bridal showers are great teaching tools. I have tried to include our teens in the discussion and preparation of the shower for Jessica. It has provided several informal teachable moments plus a lot of bonding time. I want to instill in them the value of and God's design for marriage. We have talked about avoiding temptation. (by not staying at your finace's apartment overnight alone--even if you do plan on sleeping in seperate beds!) I'm praying that these lessons will stick with them for life.
6. Thanks to my dear friend Angie (davisdoodles.blogspot.com), I should have a sitemeter going soon. I could never have done it without her explicit instructions on her (always entertaining) blog! Thanks Ang!
7. Another Blogospherian is about to be hatched! Watch my list to see a link to my sister Liz' blog soon--Leo and I have been twisting her arm for a long time trying to get her to start a blog. I know you will enjoy her insights and (pardon this proud auntie!) the pictures and antics of her two little ones! Welcome, Lizzy Lou!

Shar, what were you doing up and blogging at 7 this morning?? Will it have that affect (effect?) on me?! Agh!!!

Seriously, I may have to get Leora or you on the phone and work out some of the kinks in my brain on setting up my spot.

Love ya!
Lizzy

Hey Shar!!

Funny thing, I was looking at pictures from your wedding last week and thought, Arthur and Jessica had not idea they would be getting married later on! She was just a "little girl!" I am happy for them!

Love ya!
