Five years from now you will be pretty much the same as you are today except for two things: the books you read and the people you get close to."
Charles Jones
The picture above is one of my favorites. It is c1980 at the Altamont Holiness Church--a picture of all the children with our pastors, the Beddows. The last 27 years has scattered us from California to Florida and many places in between. Our paths have taken us many different directions. As I look at the picture, there are totally different story lines for each person. What has made the difference for each of us? Here are my conclusions:
1) Personal Choices--friends, education, careers
2) People who invested themselves in us--Sunday School teachers, Aunts and Uncles, Pastors, Educators
3) The biggest personal choice, what we did with God and our faith
I think there is a lesson for all of us in this little picture--first, make good choices for yourself--others are watching you. Second, invest yourself in others.
People are the only thing that really lasts forever.

It's fun and sometimes a little sad to look back at our childhood. There are so many people I wonder what happened to.
I concure!! I remember going thru my parents year book and hearing the stories of their different classmates. I remember thinking that will never happen to my friends or ones I go to class with. Sadly it is true. They only thing I can do is pray that the experiences they once had with God will stick with them and they will return to the "straight path"
