* Thanks, Charles and Leo, for spreading the Settlers of Catan epidemic to Northeast Missouri! It has provided me with hours of entertainment as I watch the others play. I also get a lot of things done while everyone else is huddled around the blue, yellow and green mosaic board squabbling over wood, ore, wheat and sheep. I also get a chance to visit with the wives of other players! We are thinking of asking the guys play on Saturday morning and we will take a trip to the mall or to Amish country to get bulk supplies and baked goods.
* I love to play games but there are certain games that I just can't get my head around, or require too much concentration or Bob ALWAYS wins. Monopoly is one, Catan is the other. I'm not a spoil-sport, I just don't believe in self-torture.
* Yesterday I took a CPR instructor course. I love to teach and I needed something to add to my resume and to my skills. I co-teach my first class September 18 then I can fly solo.
* Check out Phil B.'s blog for some mental aerobics. His posts one 8/21 and 8/22, one about tolerance and one about church music, are thought-provoking. Oh, and happy anniversary, Philip and Dorcas!
* The weather finally cooled a couple degrees last week. It makes me look forward to Fall. Fall is my favorited season. I love the smell of hot chocolate, chili in the crockpot, the snug feel of a jacket, the beauty of the kaleidoscope of leaves.
* The teens at church are begging for a cookout and/or campout. It sounds good to me, too. I love a bonfire, roasted marshmallows, singing by the fire, campfire games..
* Spring makes most people kick into cleaning gear. Fall does it for me. With Elise's help, the most of the kitchen has been "Fall-cleaned." Today is the day for the bedroom and the laundry room.
* I applaud my dear friend, Angie, for winning a favorite blogger poll! I'm trying to think if I have your autograph somewhere... Seriously, great job, Ang! You almost always make me laugh right outloud!
* Another blogger friend, Carrie, shared a video from of Terry Fator, winner of America's Got Talent. He won $1,000,000 with his skills as a ventriloquist! WOW! Bob, Elise and I have enjoyed watching all the Terry Fator videos we could find on youtube. I was skeptical before I watched him perform. I knew Bob would be an even harder sell but once he saw Winston the Turtle impersonate Kermit the Frog, he was hooked. (He will deny it if you ask him!)
* We are going tonight to get our new washer. (We don't get in a hurry about these things, if you hadn't noticed.) We are still debating top load vs front load. The outlet store has the front loaders at a discount, otherwise, it wouldn't even be a debate. The vote among our family and friends is split. Even consumer reports don't give us a sure answer. So, this is your last chance if you want to weigh in!
* I love Google! Charles got me hooked on gmail a long time ago. I have a personalized Google home page with everything I want right where I can see it. I didn't think it could get much better. Then Misty suggested setting up "Google Reader" so our Grandmother could read all her grandchildren's blogs easily. So I checked out Google Reader and added it to my homepage. I put all my Fellow Blogospherians' links in and, ta-da! everytime I go online, I can see immediately who has posted something new and read it right from my home page! How convenient! Thanks, Charles and Misty and Google!
* I am having a rare day at home so I am catching up on a lot of stuff. Now I had better get going and do something productive!
