There are all different kinds of voices calling you to all different kinds of work . . . (and) the place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet."
~Fred Buechner
I heard this quote today and it caught my attention. I'm not sure if I agree or disagree. I believe that God often leads us into places where we find "deep gladness"--sometimes we go there reluctantly only to find it was a perfect fit. (At least that's how it was for me with nursing.) But what about people who spend their days and years caring for a loved one who is completley incapacitated or any number of other bone-wearying places. Could this become their place of "deep gladness" if they allow it to be?
Just wondering. I would love to read any thoughts you have on this subject.
