Random thoughts

Don't I have a handsome father?
People say, "He doesn't look old enough to be your dad!"
Does that mean he looks young or that I look old???
  • Words that make me smile: superfluous--adj 1: serving no useful purpose; having no excuse for being. I think it's funny that we have such a fancy sounding word for that!
  • I am reading Life@Work by John Maxwell. It's about merging the "Church You" and the "Work You." It is great for anyone but especially for professionals who are also involved in church work. The quotes that follow are from this book.
  • I have always felt I was "called" to be a nurse so I thought this quote by AW Tozer was interesting:

It is not what a man does that determines

whether his work is sacred or secular,

but why he does it.

  • I firmly believe that we all minister/should have a ministry. Sure, you have to broaden your idea of ministry beyond preaching and being a missionary. Ministry is serving others. There are a million different ways to serve. Open your mind and ask God to lead you to your ministry--my guess is that it is closer than you think! Start by doing your present job to the best of your ability and go from there.
  • JM states, Serving--is the art and act of focusing on someone else's interest instead of your own.
  • Have you ever met someone with a real servant's heart? It's a beautiful thing to see in action. Service is it's own reward.
  • Another quote, this one from Albert Schweitzer:

...the only ones among you who will be happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.

  • Whoever you are led to serve, serve them as if they were Jesus himself. You may regret unkindness, but you will never regret being patient, kind and forgiving.
