Top Ten List of Absolute Randomness

Aunt Shar with three of the six most awesome kids in the whole world.
1. Website of the day: http://www.oneplace.com/ all kinds of Christian ministries --including stuff for kiddos. I have been working through Nancy Leigh DeMoss' series about Miriam on Revive Our Hearts. You can listen to all of Focus on the Family's ministries there and much, much more.
2. Presidential debate --No real "classic" moments that will be played over in over in future generations. (Think Reagan's line about age...) I was really hoping the Maverick would have something clever up his sleeve!
3. What I can't believe: I have allowed my brother, brother-in-law and Sarah Palin to turn me into a total political junky--well, for me anyway!
4. Book I'm reading: "Loving God" by Charles Colson--good stuff.
5. Quote of the day: Honesty without love is brutality.
6. Ponder this: Our greatest desire? To be known. Our greatest fear? To be known.
7. Corny jokes of the day:
What’s the difference between a southern zoo and a northern zoo?
A southern zoo has a description of the animal on the front of the cage along with… a recipe...
What do you call a fish with no eyes? A fsh.

8. Person of the day: everyone's favorite blogger--Angie!! Click on her name on the right and wish her a happy birthday!
9. Latest adventure: Greyhound trip from Joplin to Oklahoma City to visit Lizzy and her family. Bob had to work at the last minute and the bus goes straight through with just a 20 minute stop in Tulsa. The fare was reasonable so I hopped on board. A first for me--traveling by commercial bus. Let me just say, the bus riding population as a whole is an interesting bunch. I had two very interesting seat mates. The first one was in his 70's and was headed to Texas to help move his finacee back to MIssouri. He was so sweet and happy to be getting married. I think his wife is one lucky woman.

The second seatmate was a middle aged guy who was on his way home after four years in prison. My heart went out to him. Society is not kind to those in his predicament. He had no cash, no phone, no food. He used my phone to try to call someone to pick him up but could only leave a message on a machine. I never saw him again after we got off the bus. I hope he can put his life together again.

10. My birthday was the 18th--I am 36. Thankful to be alive, healthy, happy, very blessed.
My favorite card was from a former patient of mine who is 95 and very spunky. The card arrived on my exact birthday. It was one of those that has a dial built in to set it for different birthdays--mine was set to say, "Happy 80th Birthday!" It was so thoughtful of her to remember my birthday---I'm sure she thought the dial said 18th! :-)

Shar, you're stinker! I've been so distracted lately that I missed YOUR birthday. We're getting OLD, girl... I would like to point out that the Canadian zoos are also likely to include recipes. :)
