On the lighter side...

I was "tagged" on facebook to write 25 things you probably don't know about me. This is what I came up with. Some of you are on fb, too, sorry to duplicate.
1. Bob and I got married on Valentine's Day 1998.
2. I like cars-especially classics. Some day we would like to each have our own classic car--a '57 Chevy for Bob and a '67 Camaro or Mustang for me.
3. Growing up I always said I would never be a nurse--but I have loved every bit of the last 15 years in the field of nursing. Never a dull moment and plenty of variety.
4. I have taken care of the extremely wealthy on Jupiter Island and many homeless people in hospitals. I have found both can be cantankerous or grateful.
5. I was driving legally at 14--yep, you can do that in Kansas.
6. I think one of the worst jobs in the world would be a dental assistant.
7. I have a huge collection of Fiestaware--I love the bright colors and never get tired of it.
8. I do not enjoy decorating at all. It drives me crazy. Usually Bob and my friends decorate our house. I'm sure the Proverbs 31 woman would not approve but I just have a very difficult time with it.
9. I love calligraphy--I am not very good but enjoy trying.
10. Like Aimee, I am taking piano lessons and LEARNING to play by ear--I think it is harder than learning to play by note. I have spent countless weeks trying to conquer Happy Birthday--I have no idea why it is so difficult for me but it is.
11. I used to play the alto sax.
12. Like Sherry, I was in the choir at UBC with Phil and Kim Collingsworth. I learned so much about singing, music and ministry. In case you didn't know, Kim can preach as well as she plays! She is passionate about ministering to the audience.
13. My favorite cartoons are: Close to Home, Far Side, and Calvin & Hobbs.
14. I love the artwork of Norman Rockwell--it always makes me smile and there is a new detail every time I look at a picture.
15. I started college for nursing a few days after high school graduation. I was very green and had never worked in healthcare before. I didn't know what an enema was! There were 10 HS grads in that class. 2 of us graduated. I was the only one who passed state boards the first time. I passed, thanks to friends and parents who cheered me on and made sure I studied like crazy.
16. I do not like fiction books. I enjoy biographies, history, informational stuff, collections of medical stories, etc. But do not like fiction.
17. If I had to choose another career, it would be a mechanic--as long as I didn't have to get grease under my fingernails! :~) Seriously, I think it would be a lot like nursing--gather info about symptoms and start diagnosing and fixing.
18. When we get together with Bob's side of the family--his mom's side and his dad's side all together...there are four of us. Bob, his mom, his brother, and me. Bob's dad was an only child and his mother had one sister--who was a nun.
19. When we get together with my mom's side of the family--there are 81 of us! Bob went through culture shock when he married me and started going to our family get togethers!
20. My 6, almost 7, neices and nephews are the light of our life.
21. Ochelata Youth Camp is the highlight of my year--I have only missed one or two since it started. I missed those years while I lived in Florida.
22. I love large animals and would love work in a zoo nursery or on a zoo medical team--but I do NOT like pets.
23. My first car was a 1970 Buick Lesabre--it was about 4 city blocks long but it could fly down the highway. I had a bit of a lead foot and would hit bumps pretty hard. Dad had to strap down the battery because it kept bouncing out of place, breaking the cables and leaving me stranded.
24. Erma Bombeck is my favorite author.
25. I once went to a party dressed as Aunt Jemima. It was fun. I love costumes and collect pieces I find at garage sales and thrift stores. Someday I want Liz and I to dress up like bag ladies and see if Mom and Dad recognize us when we ring the door bell! Goofy, I know.

Very interesting, I learned a lot about you!

I saw you as Aunt Jemima, you were perfect! I'd like to see you post a picture of it, if you wouldn't mind.
