Shortly after I made my last post we got a phone call from one of Bob's best friends, Arthur. Arthur's dad had just died from an accident while cutting down a tree. We went to be with Arthur and the rest of the family for a few hours.
We were all so sad. Sad for all of us but especially the family. Dan was one of the gentlest, kindest men I know. He was intelligent and was a construction foreman building huge buildings in St Louis. He was active in the church, school and camp and served quietly and diligently. He will be missed. Christian sorrow is blended with hope and that makes these times more bearable.
"Mr. Arthur" helps with Kids Club on Tuesday night so we decided to postpone the cookout for a week out of respect for his loss. Plus, it's raining and possibly going to snow this weekend...not good cookout weather.
Dan grew up with my mom and her brothers, their families serving on the same mission field at the same time. So we have a lot of family coming in this weekend. I had better get going and make sure there are enough clean sheets and towels.
BY THE WAY, be a little kinder, say more I Love You's, give more hugs, give the roses--literal and proverbial. You won't regret it.
